BOSSES at West Midlands Fire Service have declined to comment further about damning accusations levelled at the authority’s chief fire officer.

The fire service has confirmed Wayne Brown, who leads West Midlands Fire Service, is under investigation following claims made about him.

But the service has confirmed no further details.

According to the BBC, the claims relate to a business administration qualification which is a requirement for the top chief fire officer role.

A spokesperson for West Midlands Fire Service said: “We are aware of claims referencing our Chief Fire Officer and West Midlands Fire Service.

“Formal enquiries and processes, in line with our Fire Authority’s constitution, are now ongoing in relation to the matters raised. We will undertake this thoroughly and fairly.

“In the meantime, we will not be commenting further.”

The service has not confirmed whether Mr Brown has been suspended.
