A support worker who has gone from a newcomer to an influential colleague in less than a year is being celebrated by a care provider.

Dean Davies joined Endurance Care Worcestershire less than a year ago with no previous social care experience.

His journey has been marked by personal growth, a promotion to a senior role, and recognition in the form of an 'Outstanding Achievement Award'.

From a shaky start due to his lack of experience, Mr Davies flourished with the support of his colleagues, taking on more responsibilities in a short period of time.

Kelly Smith, the registered manager at National Care Group’s Endurance, said: "During his interview, I knew Dean would do well due to how passionately he spoke about personal situations and managing them.

"I told him there and then that I would give him an opportunity within our team.

"From the get-go, he was eager to get involved in the complex care needs and routines of the people we support, use his initiative to develop relationships, and empower them to achieve their full potential.

"His passion for making a difference shone through immediately."

Prior to joining the care provider, Mr Davies had been out of work for several years due to his commitments and devotion as a single dad to his children with complex needs.

Despite initial nerves about starting a new career, he immediately made a positive impact on the people he cares for and his colleagues.

His commitment was recognized early as he completed his Care Certificate with flying colours, and took up the role of a shift leader.

Karen Lewis, chief operations officer at National Care Group, said: "We couldn’t be prouder of Dean.

"He is new to the sector and has taken everything in his stride.

"He always strives to support people in a way that promotes independence, with positivity that shines through in everything he does.

"We can’t wait to follow his progression.

"Dean is a shining example that you don’t need qualifications or experience to join the sector and achieve goals."
