An appeal has gone out for kindhearted Halesowen residents to sponsor unwanted animals.

The Safe Haven project lets people sponsor a dog kennel, cat pen or rabbit run for just £3 a month.

The money will help each animal that occupies that space until it finds a new home, with donors are able to visit their kennel or pen.

The Safe Haven project helps animals such as Fudge the greyhound whose previous owner was prosecuted by the RSPCA and banned from keeping animals for life. Fudge came into kennels underweight with untreated injuries on his legs but is now a normal healthy dog looking for a fresh start with a new owner. To find out more call community fundraising manager Helen Tuite at Birmingham Animal Centre on 0300 123 8677 or 07715 540 418.
