A Halesowen dancing star is searching for £58,000 to help realise her dream of a life on the stage.
Kerry Coles, of Oaktree Crescent, is celebrating after seeing off hundreds of hopefuls from across the globe to earn a place at the prestigious Hammond School of Dance in Chester.
The talented 15-year-old and her family are now looking for sponsors to help raise the £58,000 needed to start the three year course in September.
Kerry, who recently sat her GCSE’s at Earls High school, described the feelings after finding out she had passed the school’s tough auditions which took place in November.
Kerry, who has attended dance classes since the age of three, said: “When I found out I was cheering and jumping round the house and running up the garden.
“I love performing, it’s in my blood. It is just amazing when you are on stage.”
Mum Tina revealed the family had been in contact with local companies to find funding for Kerry’s course.
Earlier this month Halesowen Area Committee also agreed to award her £2,000 from the Earls High School Foundation.
Tina said: “Kerry’s dream is to be in a corps de ballet and this will hopefully get her closer to achieving that.
“We are really proud of her.”
