Protestors have lost the battle to save Cradley High school's leisure centre with news education chief councillor Liz Walker has officially signed her decision to sell off the entire site.

Cllr Walker, Dudley Council's cabinet member for children's services, signed the decision sheet today (Wednesday) dashing campaigners hope the centre, which joins onto the school on Homer Hill, would stay.

She said: "I have considered fully all the representations that have been made to me and I have not signed it lightly.

"But the leisure centre is an integral part of the school and therefore we have to dispose of the school site.

"Unfortunately it is an asset that needs to be disposed of because we have no further use for it."

Adjacent Homer Hill park is not affected by the sale and will remain.

Well surprise surprise! Cllr Walker has given no consideration whatsoever to the representations made to her by the perople of Cradley, nor did she when she closed the school. Seemingly this decision was already made weeks ago! And who are the "we" who have no further use for this facility exactly?! Certainly not the many groups and local people who use it Cllr Walker! You and your cronies on Dudley Council are an absolute disgrace!
