Budding wordsmiths are in for a treat when Halesowen hosts a poetry celebration evening.

A party to mark the release of new anthology Pendulum - the poetry of dreams, will take place at Halesowen library on Tuesday October 14 from 7pm.

The event features readings from popular poets including former Birmingham poet laureate Roz Goddard, Chris Tutton, Dream Catcher magazine founder Paul Sutherland and community librarian Philip Coker.

The event is part of celebrations to mark National Poetry Day on Thursday October 9.

Councillor Michael Evans, council cabinet member responsible for libraries, said: “We hope the launch party will encourage people to come along who would like to try their hand at writing poetry, it could be the inspiration they need to put pen to paper and come up with a few poetic lines of their own.”

Tickets cost £3.50 or £2.50 for group bookings of five or more and are available from Halesowen, Stourbridge, Dudley and Brierley Hill libraries.
