DAVID Mogg is to carry on the task of improving Yate Town’s squad after discussing his future with chairman Peter Jackson.

Mogg had been concerned that players would not commit to the club if they thought another manager would be brought in.

‘I told the chairman there was no point in me talking to players if my future was in doubt,” said Mogg.

“He told me he was not looking to change anything, so I will carry on until he tells me otherwise.

“It has not stopped me trying to bring people in as we need new faces, and I have a few feelers out.”

Saturday’s 1-0 defeat by Evesham at Lodge Road brought another headache after central defender Scott Brice was sent off.

“He will be suspended for three games, so I have to look at covering that,” said Mogg.

“The challenge was reckless and from where I was, there was no other outcome.”

That defeat was Yate’s third in a row, and they were denied the chance to make amends on Tuesday when the trip to bottom club Clevedon Town was postponed.

“I was disappointed the game was off as it would have been an interesting contest,” said Mogg.

“Now we go towards Saturday’s game with Bedford with renewed optimism and we have got to pick ourselves up off the floor.

“Let’s face it, we cannot go much lower so the only way is up for us.”

Another minus is the departure of Alex Stanley to join brother Nick at Swindon Supermarine.

“He is the only left-sided player I have,” said Mogg. “But I have signed a young lad called Aaron Robbins from local football. He has a lot of potential and could be a good player if he is prepared to learn.

“I have also been speaking to a midfielder who can improve our passing, but the bottom line is that we need to improve all round.”
