A SEARCH has been launched to celebrate Sandwell’s highest achievers in employment, skills and learning with a collection of annual awards.
Nominations are being invited for the borough’s Employment, Skills & Learning Awards 2009, which will take place on Thursday, September 24.
Sandwell Council has hosted annual learner awards for the last four years, recognising more than 800 people and last year added the role played by training providers and employers in learners' achievements for the first time, The awards are split into four categories skills for life, achievement against the odds in learning or employment, learning for employment, employer of the year (private, public and voluntary sector), training provider of the year, voluntary community organisation of the year and community spirit.
The event will again be hosted by BBC presenter Michael Collie and Black Country historian Dr Carl Chinn will also be joining in the celebrations.
Council cabinet member for employment, skills and partnerships councillor Ann Shackleton said: "This is an important and much anticipated event in Sandwell’s calendar, celebrating as it does the great achievements of Sandwell residents and businesses. We would urge people to be a part of this and publicly celebrate living and working in Sandwell."
