TRUE-life tales of ghosts, hauntings and the paranormal, including a chapter on how to find and catch your own, can be found in a new book by author Philip Solomon.
Haunted Black Country is a collection of chilling tales that are reported to have taken place in back-alleys, pubs, churches, cemeteries and even telephone boxes across the region, claimed by many to be the most haunted in the world.
Philip Solomon, a writer and paranormal expert from Willenhall, said: “Almost all of the stories have been personally investigated by me or my team of professional researchers - and many have remained untold until this book was written.”
Among the spooky stories are a host of hauntings reported across Dudley, Brierley Hill, Stourbridge, Kinver, Cradley and Oldbury.
The highlights include supposed sightings of the ghost of the legendary Dick Whittington, who hailed from Kinver; and an apparation thought to be Jack the Ripper - who, although his identity was never confirmed, was strongly believed to be butcher’s son William Bury - born in Hill Street, Stourbridge.
The book, priced £9.99, is available from book shops and direct from Gloucestershire-based publisher The History Press at www.thehistorypress.co.uk
