WOULD-be Halesowen and Rowley Regis MP James Morris is supporting a volunteering organisation in its bid to develop opportunities for young people across Sandwell.

As Conservative prospective parliamentary candidate he visited independent charity V in West Bromwich where he discussed its work with youth volunteer development manager Kelly Cranston.

V's mission is to develop volunteering opportunities for 16 to 25-year-olds as part of its National Youth Volunteering programme and is looking to expand in Cradley Heath and Old Hill, Blackheath and Rowley Regis James, who is currently establishing a job club across Halesowen and Rowley Regis to help people back into work, sees volunteering as an important way of people finding new paths to employment.

“I believe that volunteering can be the key to giving young people vital experience to develop their skills and employability. This is particularly vital at the moment with the job market as it is.

“Volunteering can also give young people an opportunity to follow their interests and make a real contribution to the local community,” he said.
