A PARKINSON’S disease sufferer raised more than £500 with a fundraising party at her Halesowen home.
Wendy Williams, who was diagnosed with the condition eight years ago, held the Party for Parkinson’s event to raise vital funds for he Parkinson’s Disease Society to mark its 40th anniversary.
“Some friends I hadn’t seen for a very long time made the effort to come and support me and it was wonderful to see them. People with Parkinson’s are desperate for a cure and money for research is urgently needed,” she said.
The disease is a progressive neurological condition affecting movements such as walking, talking and writing. It occurs as a result of the loss of the nerve cells responsible for producing a chemical known as dopamine and there is no known cure.
