A BLACK Country man has been spared time behind bars after he handled clothing taken in a £30,000 raid on an Oldbury firm.
Wolverhampton Crown Court heard the burglary, at Ridgeacre XL, had "devastated" the clothing company at a time when it was considering expanding.
Alka Brigue prosecuting told the court the company was about to take on extra staff for telesales but those plans had been put on hold.
There was a "large scale" burglary at the firm which provided clothing for larger men and a great deal of damage was caused by the raiders, said Miss Brigue.
She said that as a result of information police officers went to a house in Coseley where about £3,000 worth of clothing had been left by 30-year-old Stuart Danks.
He later surrendered himself to police and said a man had asked him to look after the items which had become damaged, added Miss Brigue.
Danks, of Sycamore Road, Tipton, admitted handling stolen property and was placed under supervision for a year and told to carry out 150 hours community punishment.
Recorder Roderick Potter told him it was accepted he played no part in the burglary but stressed he had "foolishly" agreed to look after some of the stolen goods.
