A PLAQUE honouring a late community stalwart who ran Cradley Community Centre for 40 years has been unveiled.
Joyce Boxley was prominent in raising the cash to build the community centre on Colley Lane and dedicated her life to running it until she died last year in her 80s.
The plaque was unveiled on Saturday July 18 at part of a fun day by Cradley MP Lynda Waltho and the Deputy Mayor of Dudley councillor Peter Millar.
The plaque, paid for from centre funds, is in the centre's main hall which is called the Joyce Boxley room in her honour.
Next to it there is a plaque featuring the names of other people who raised money to build the centre.
Cradley councillor Richard Body said: "Mrs Boxley dedicated her life to the community centre and the Darby and Joan.
"She won many awards for her community service - she was the main driving force to raise the money to get it built and ran it all those years."
