Chance for Halesowen residents to take part in concert

AN EXCITING opportunity has arisen for Halesowen residents to take part in what promises to be a classical extravaganza.

Local musician and entrepreneur Matthew Jones is collaborating with legendary broadcaster and music journalist Paul Gambaccini on a brand new professional production of Carmia Burana.

Carl Orff's Carmina Burana is arguably the most popular choral work of the 20th century - its famous 'O Fortuna' has been used in countless film and television soundtracks including The Omen, Old Spice and more recently The X Factor.

Featuring top oratorio soloists and The Matthew Jones Orchestra and Choir, this large-scale event will be staged at Birmingham's magnificent Town Hall as a matinee performance on Valentine's Day 2010 in aid of the British Heart Foundation.

Matthew Jones Music Ltd are now looking to augment the choir with people of all ages, with and without singing experience - ideal for those who enjoy a challenge and have a passion for fundraising.

The choir's past success includes productions of Mozart's Coronation Mass, Faure's Requiem and Vivaldi's Gloria at some of the UK's finest venues. Most notably, their recent recording collaboration with Lyricist Don Black raised over £10,000 for Cancer Research UK.

Rehearsals commence in November at Highclare School - The Abbey, Erdington.
