A HALESOWEN school has pulled off a literary coup by attracting one of Britain’s biggest authors Anthony Horowitz.

The best selling author and screenwriter will launch his latest book Alex Rider: Crocodile Tears at Earls High School, Furnace Lane after first visiting the school ten years ago.

A spokesman for the school said: “This is brilliant news and we are delighted that Another is coming to Earls High School.

“It is a great achievement for the school because the only other two venues he is visiting are London and Edinburgh.”

The Alex Rider series of books, about a reluctant teenage superspy, have sold over 12 million copies across the world and the latest title is the 12th in the series.

The author, who also wrote ITV’s Collision mini-series, will be holding a question and answer session at the school with children and parents.

Justin Somper, who is the author’s publicist, revealed why the bestselling author chose Halesowen as one of only three places to launch the book.

He said: “A key reason why Anthony has chosen Halesowen as one of the three launch venues for Crocodile Tears is to thank Dudley Children's Book Group and its chair, Ros Bartlett, for many years of strong support and it is now almost ten years since he first visited the Earls High School.”

He added: “On Friday November 13, Anthony will be at the Earls High School to do two events, the first for an invited schools audience at 2pm and then at 7pm he will take to the stage there for a live question and answer session with broadcaster Paul Blezard.”
