HALESOWEN MP Sylvia Heal took local volunteers to meet the Prime Minister in recognition of the good work they do.
Jon and Sonia Caulwell who help run Earls Gymnastics Club and Paul Powell from Barnardo’s made the trip to London.
Sylvia met Jon, Sonia and Paul and showed them around the House of Commons.
The trio then watched th deputy speaker in action chairing a debate before heading to number ten Downing Street where they met Gordon Brown and the Chancellor’s wife, Maggie Darling.
Sylvia said: "I think it's important local people who contribute their time through volunteering and improving our community get the recognition they deserve."
The Prime Minister chatted to guests at the reception and Maggie Darling also invited Mr Powell to an event she is hosting soon for Barnardo’s.
Paul Powell said: ‘It was a great experience. I was very grateful to be given the opportunity to profile the community based work Barnardo’s do in the Midlands and around the country with young people.
"It was really interesting to meet the other guests and learn about schemes and support services in other areas.’ Earls Gymnastics Club is a successful club that provides opportunities for people of all ages and standards in gymnastics. It currently has about 350 members with elite performers who compete in national and international competitions including two bronze Commonwealth medalists.
