HIGH-flying Cradley Heath mother Roz Guy is preparing to plunge 13,000ft from a plane s in a bid to raise £1,500 for The National Autistic Society - a cause close to her heart.
Roz, aged 31, has a five-year-old son, Izak, with autism and her two-year-old daughter Grace is currently going through the diagnostic process for the condition She will join the NAS' Falling Angels team as they free fall to speeds of 120mph, covering each 1,000ft in five seconds before plummeting back down to the town of Brackley, Northamptonshire, on Saturday April 10 while in joint control of a parachute.
"My kids have branded us the 'Red Devils' and although I am the only one jumping out of the plane the three of them are the real superstars. They are planning on making me a banner and dressing me in a bright red outfit on the big day, just in case they can't spot me hurtling towards the ground at high speeds.
“I've always wanted to give something back to the NAS as they've been so important to us from the moment my eldest son, Izak, was diagnosed with autism when he was two-years-old," said Roz, of Kerewin Close.
“This is a once-in-a-lifetime opportunity, but in terms of challenge it does not even touch what my children go through every day,” she added.
There are still places available to join the NAS Falling Angels Team for the skydive which follows shortly after World Autism Day. For more information contact the events team on 08450 509 001 or email events@nas.org.uk.
