CUTE Black Country toddler Charlie Southwell is in the frame to win a nationwide hunt to find the face of 2011 to feature on the front cover of a leading toy maker’s brochure.

The four-year-old, who attends Manor Way Primary School nursery, Halesowen, wowed judges who singled him out as the West Midlands finalist for the competition run by Stourport-based TP Toys and now he needs online votes to win the national title.

Proud mum Clair Southwell said: “I was shocked and couldn’t believe it at first that he’d been picked to represent the whole region. All I sent was a snap of him stroking a ginger cat.”

Charlie, of New Street, Quarry Bank, who dreams of being the next Spiderman, is one of only two boys among six youngsters to be shortlisted and won a sandpit for reaching the finals.

He enjoys trampolining at his Quarry Bank home and if he wins the title Face of Active Fun he will also net £1,000 worth of toys.

TP Toys marketing controller Pat Preston added: “All of this year’s entries were absolutely superb, and we’re delighted with the finalists that the panel has chosen, including Charlie. It’s now up to the public to decide by voting on our website.”

Anyone wishing to vote for Charlie can do so by visiting www.tptoys.com/shortlist before the deadline on Sunday (July 4).
