A Colley Gate pensioner was surrounded by over 120 friends and family as she celebrated her 100th birthday.

Annie Turner, who still fends for herself in her bungalow and is a popular figure around Colley Gate, was delighted to receive her prized telegraph from the Queen.

Jean Willetts said: “We had a great party in the Wilson Hall to celebrate Annie’s 100th birthday and she was delighted that so many friends and relatives came to celebrate.

“She is an amazing lady and still loves living in Colley Gate where relatives and carers help her get along fine.”

Annie worked at the Searchlight factory in Halesowen until she married her beloved Jack and having three children who she even celebrated a diamond anniversary with before he died.
