SIXTH form students at The Earls High School in Halesowen have put pen to paper to help wrongly jailed prisoners across the world.

The students held a lunchtime writing session for the Amnesty International Greeting Cards campaign.

Their hard work led to over 70 cards being posted to 14 countries to prisoners of conscience.

The students held a raffle to raise money for the stamps and the Earls Big Tidy Up team donated all of their funds to help Amnesty.

Lin Begley, sixth form head, said: "This is the first time we have supported The Amnesty Greeting Cards Campaign and the response from our students from ages 11 - 18 and our staff in their own lunch time has been exceptional and really quite touching.

“We have sent cards to prisoners all over the world where Amnesty are worried about them including China, Laos and Equatorial Guinea.”

She added: “It is wonderful to think that cards from The Earls High will, in a practical way, give hope to prisoners of conscience across the globe."
