YOUNG Black Country performers will be bringing to life the classic tale of Aladdin and his magic lamp at Netherton Arts Centre later this month.

The Young Ones theatre company is staging popular pantomime Aladdin at the Northfield Road venue from Saturday January 22 to Saturday January 29.

Ricky Dowell will be starring as Aladdin, Mike Bradley will be reprising his role as the panto dame, Julie Bowater will be playing the princess and Grant Chapman will be adding a touch of humour as Wishee Washee.

The show, the company’s 49th annual outing, will run at 7.15pm nightly except on Sunday January 23; with matinee performances, starting at 2.15pm, running on Saturday January 22, Sunday January 23 and Saturday January 29.

Tickets cost £7.50 and £8.50 and are available from Chris Sykes on 01384 895266.

The company, which boasts actress Josie Lawrence as its president, will be recruiting young performers aged seven to 18 later in the year for its 50th anniversary show - which will be staged in January 2012.
