DUDLEY thespian David Hutchins is getting set to take on the role of the dashing Mr Darcy in a Black Country theatre group’s version of Pride and Prejudice.

Dudley Little Theatre member David, who has taken on many major roles with the group including a noteable turn as author Laurie Lee, will be playing Fitzwilliam Darcy (famously played on screen by Colin Firth) in the group’s March production.

The classic tale of romance, family fortunes and reputations will also star seasoned society regular Emma Dyke as the opinionated literary heroine Elizabeth Bennett.

Adapted from Jane Austin’s most admired novel by playwright Helen Jerome, the show will be directed by Rebecca Clee and will run at Netherton Arts Centre, Northfield Road, Netherton, from Wednesday March 9 to Friday March 12.

Performances start at 7.30pm.

Tickets cost £6,(£5 for senior citizens, students and the unemployed), and there’s a ten per cent reduction on party bookings.

They are available from Dudley Council Plus on 01384 812812, Books Unlimited, Lower High Street, Stourbridge, or Chris Ridgeway on 01384 872583.
