PE at a Halesowen school has been given a £250,000 boost with the opening of a new sports hall.

Pupils at Hurst Green Primary School now have the luxury of a purpose-built hall to enable development of the PE curriculum.

Funding for the hall came from the school’s own budget and headteacher Ann Partridge said she was indebted to the governors whose support had helped the project come to fruition.

She added: “We are delighted with our new sports hall. Prior to this our hall had to be used for assemblies, lunches, PE , productions and after school activities.

“The children have been very excited as they watched the building grow and will benefit greatly from its use.

“We now have a purpose-built facility for them to use which will enhance their curriculum and wet weather will not now affect the amount of time they can spend doing PE.”
