CHILDREN and staff at a Halesowen school stepped back into the Wild West for their autumn fair.

On Saturday Tenterfields Primary School was transformed as parents and children enjoyed the fair whilst raising cash for the school.

There were traditional stalls, games, refreshments and cakes which helped raise £1,000 for the school for a poly-tunnel so that the children can grow plants and vegetables all year round.

Halesowen and Rowley Regis MP James Morris also joined pupils and staff for the event.

The MP judged the fancy dress competition, which was won by Billy Elwart, who was there as Billy the Kid.

Keith Butler, Headteacher at Tenterfields, said: “It was a terrific day and we were very lucky with the weather. I would like to thank everybody who helped us to raised so much money for the school.”

Mr Morris paid tribute to the work of Tenterfields’ Parents, Teachers and Friends Association, who organised the event.

He said: “I know how much work must have gone into making the Autumn Fair such a fantastic event and I know that all of the children enjoyed it just as much as I did.

“I would like to congratulate the children, and their parents, for the excellent costumes in the fancy dress competition, which made judging even more difficult.”
