THE promise of free food at a new noodle bar in Quinton caused 'chaos' yesterday (Wednesday).
Chop and Wok, Hagley Road West, started the free food giveaway at midday and hundreds of people flocked to the restaurant as word spread like wildfire.
Juliet, who volunteers at the neighbouring Sue Ryder shop, said: "I've never seen so many people in this row of shops and I've no idea where they all come from. It was chaos."
There were traffic problems around the shop throughout the afternoon as people descended on the shop wanting free food.
Tom Fathers, from Chop and Wok, said: "A lot more people came than we expected.
"We expected the rush to die off but people kept coming and when the schools finished it was crazy."
He added: "We couldn't cope if it was like this everyday and I would like to assure all our neighbours that it will be not like this every day."
