Halesowen Police are repeating their warnings to local car owners after another spate of vehicle crime.

The police are reminding motorists to lock their vehicles and remove all valuables including sat navs, Ipods, mobile phones and clothing when leaving them unattended.

In response to the spate of thefts police are now carrying out plain clothed routine patrols in these areas to target offenders.

Sergeant Wendy Tyler said: “This message comes after a spate of theft from motor vehicles in the Howley Grange area of Halesowen.

“We are asking people to help us and themselves by thinking very carefully about where they park their vehicle and how they make sure that it is secure before leaving it.“ She added: “Don’t give the criminal a chance remember to remove it or lose it. It really is that simple when it comes to keeping your car and your belongings safe."

Police want motorists to remove all valuables cash; never leave anything on display, take portable Sat Navs and the support cradle with you and never leave valuables in the glove box as this is the first place thieves look.

Drivers should also security mark all valuables in the car, such as radios and Sat Nav systems, lock all windows, doors and the sun roof whenever you leave the vehicle, even for just a few minutes and fit an alarm and always use it.

Members of the public are urged to call police on 101 if they see anything suspicious or contact the independent charity Crimestoppers in confidence on 0800 555 111.
