A fundraising quiz night held in Halesowen on Saturday night raised over £2,000 for charity.

Over 150 people battled it out at the event to win a prize hamper at Howley Grange Primary School on Saturday night.

A silent auction and raffle were also held to maximise funds for charities Cancer Research UK and the British Heart Foundation.

The event was organised by friends Esther Cole, from Halesowen, and Debbie Ringham, from Cannock. Esther, a teacher at the school, said: “These are charities personally close to our hearts, and we wanted to find a fun way of bringing friends, family and colleagues together to show our support by raising as much money as we could.”

Debbie, a cancer survivor herself who works for Cancer Research UK, said: “It was a fantastic evening, raising just over £2000 in total. “We really appreciate the generosity of local companies who donated prizes, and also everyone who participated and made the evening such a success.”
