Cradley and Long Lane libraries are next in line to have self-service technology so customers can borrow and return books themselves.

The two libraries are the last in the borough to have the system installed, which is It is expected to be in place by the spring.

Councillor Adrian Turner, cabinet member for housing, libraries and adult learning, said: “The council began its programme to introduce self service technology in 2007 and it had proved extremely popular with many visitors in the last few years. “It’s fantastic that we are now in a position to roll this out to all libraries. It’s very simple to use and more importantly frees up staff time to help people with any queries they may have.”
