POLICE are investigating an firearms incident in Oldbury after gunfire was heard by residents.

Police are appealing for witnesses concerning the incident 9.07pm on Crosswells Road.

A West Midlands Police spokesman said: “We received reports of a firearm being discharged but no-one was injured during the incident.

“The road remains closed this morning between the junction at Bloxcidge Street and the island with Dog kennel Lane while police enquiries are ongoing and will be reopened as soon as possible this morning.”

The spokesman added: “Members of the public are thanked for their patience in relation to the road closure and anyone who was in the area at the time who may have witnessed anything is urged to call police at West Bromwich on 101 or independent charity Crimestoppers anonymously on 0800 555 111.“
