A ONE-WOMAN crime wave has been jailed for 14 months after beating up a teenager in Halesowen and attacking police officers in Russells Hall Hospital.

Amy Colley, aged 32, from Cradley Heath repeatedly punched a 17-year-old girl who told her to stop making racist comments during a blazing row with her boyfriend, who also joined in the beating.

Bernard Linnemann prosecuting told Wolverhampton Crown Court that the attack was only stopped when a Good Samaritan stepped in as the boyfriend hit the girl over the head with a beer can.

The court was told Colley was arrested and bailed only to be picked up by police again following a domestic disturbance when she was taken to Russells Hall Hospital.

She had to be moved because of her behaviour in the hospital, said Mr Linnemann, and she hit out at two police officers who were trying to usher her into a side room.

They were kicked and scratched during the incident and blood was drawn from the hand of the one officer which caused concern because Colley had been diagnosed as suffering from Hepatitis although she insisted she was now clear of the disease.

Miss Samantha Powis defending said drug and alcohol were the source of Colley's problems but she was now working hard to put her life back onto the rails.

Colley, of Severn Road, whose previous convictions include wounding, affray and theft admitted two assaults and she was told by Judge Robin Onions: "These offences were made worse by the fact you may have had a transmittable medical condition."

The man accused of assaulting the 17 year old girl is set to be dealt with by another court on a date in the future.
