FORMER Big Brother star Alison Hammond dropped in on a Halesowen charity shop which is close to her heart as part of a campaign to encourage donations.

Alison - who is the auntie of Halesowen heart op schoolgirl Jasmine Page - met staff at the British Heart Foundation, High Street, to show support for the Choose Charity Shops Campaign.

Alison, who is a TV presenter on This Morning, said: “After identifying that more people are shopping in charity shops but not necessarily donating, I want to stress how vital donations are for all charity shops.

“Every donation to the BHF, for example, means a great deal to a patient suffering from heart disease”.

BHF Area Manager for Halesowen, Cathy Poultney, said: “Charity shops in Halesowen simply can’t survive without donations.

“I’m delighted Alison Hammond is supporting this campaign and helped us by donating eight bags of clothes, shoes and accessories.”

Jasmine, who attends Windsor High, underwent a successful heart transplant at Birmingham Children’s Hospital.

BHF shops are urgently appealing for good quality clothing, accessories, handbags, shoes, books, records, videos, DVDs, CDs and bric-a-brac.
