THERE were plenty of hearty laughs at Dudley Concert Hall on Saturday night as popular comic, Dave Gorman, took to the stage.
Delivering a one hour 20 minute set, Dave Gorman’s Powerpoint Presentation was more a one-man comic play than a comedy stand-up show, as he packed in the punch lines with amusing observations about some of the utter nonsense in life.
Ably assisted by a large screen and powerpoint presentation, which provided visual gags aplenty, the Are You Dave Gorman? and Googlewhack Adventure star, entertained the diversely-aged audience with his enthusiastic, tightly written script, which included material from mobile phone advertising, Facebook and Twitter, Jim Davidson, to the ‘nutjobs’ commenting on online news articles.
However Gorman received the biggest laughs of the night when he revealed his ‘look-alikes’ regularly submitted to him from members of the public as well as his explanation of how he is often mistaken for being Jewish (he was brought up Christian but became an atheist) – and his bemusement after discovering he had been named in the list of top Jewish writers in a Jewish magazine – although he failed to make the list for the top funniest Jews!
His cleverly written material provided an animated insight into the mad world we live in and a perfect opportunity to escape from it for a little while!
