Learning boost for Oldbury special school students
12:53pm Tuesday 19th June 2012 in News
SEVERELY disabled children at an Oldbury special school - who have to learn while lying down - are to benefit from a £4,000 donation to buy an adjustable bed The Westwood Charity for Children with Physical Disabilities has agreed to fund an Acheeva Learning Station for The Meadows Sports College, whose students, aged 11 to 19, have complex, profound and multiple learning difficulties.
Principal Gordon Phillips said: ”It is a specialised bed that adjusts fully as some of our students cannot be in a wheelchair for long periods and have to learn when lying down which presents us with some unique challenges which we do our best to meet.”
He said he was very grateful to the charity for funding the bed which will support students at the Dudley Road East school for years to come.
