Halesowen Fun Run road closure disruption to be minimised

Dudley Council have thrown its weight behind the Halesowen Fun Run and promised there will be a minimum of traffic disruption.

The fun run route is in the town centre and Queensway, Bromsgrove Road, Whitehall Road, Church Road, Rumbow and Birmingham Road will need to be closed during part of Sunday, September 16.

The fun run, organised by the Rotary Club of Halesowen and Rowley Regis, will be the first of its kind in Dudley borough and cabinet member for transportation Cllr Judy Foster is supporting the event.

She said: "We are very keen to support the rotary club fun run and we are currently finalising details of traffic management arrangements with the organisers as we do of course need to ensure any impact on traffic and bus services are kept to an absolute minimum."

Cllr Judy Foster, cabinet member for transportation, said: "We are very keen to support the rotary club fun run and we are currently finalising details of traffic management arrangements with the organisers as we do of course need to ensure any impact on traffic and bus services are kept to an absolute minimum."

After the News revealed the plans for the inaugural fun run on Sunday, September 16, a complaint was made by a member of the public concerning the disruption it cause. However, organisers have stressed that the event will only last a few hours and not all day.

Alan Bowler, from the Rotary Club of Halesowen and Rowley Regis, said: “We are working very closely with Dudley Council and as this is only a five kilometre fun run we do not expect the roads to be closed for more than a few hours in the morning.

The fun run is expected to raise thousands of pounds for local good causes.
