Big-hearted Rowley Regis teenager in 5-a-side marathon charity challenge

FOOTBALL-mad teenager Jake Winwood, from Rowley Regis, is hoping to net more than £1,000 for charity by staging a 24-hour five-a-side challenge.
The 16-year-old Sandwell Academy student has signed up 26 friends, including many classmates and his brother Daniel, aged 14, to take part in the event from 3pm on Wednesday (July 18) at the Goals Soccer Centre in Rowley Regis.
Jake, of Nimmings Road, said he and his mates were “passionate” about football and he decided to organise the fundraiser for Cancer Research UK after a friend’s family was touched by the disease.
“We’ll run it as a roll on roll off subs game and plan to do at least half an hour each before a break.
“The target is a £1,000 but we hope to beat that,” he said.
Another friend is making cakes to sell during the 24-hour challenge to boost the total raised and Jake said supporters were welcome to cheer them on at the centre in Cakemore Road.
