Halesowen charity bike rider beats target

PEDAL power proved a winner for a Halesowen teenager who smashed his fundraising target by more than £300 with a charity bike ride.

Dan Jones, of Blackford Close, hoped to raise £500 for the British Heart Foundation, but netted £800, completing his 107-mile cycle to Barmouth, Wales, in eight hours.

The 18-year-old assembly worker for Midtherm Flue Systems, who donated £250, completed the route despite torrential rain.
