New voices plea to swell the ranks of Halesowen choir

The Crescent Singers
AN established Halesowen choir hopes an appeal for new members will hit a high note.
The 20-strong Crescent Singers is keen to swell its ranks with fresh voices and is also on the look-out for a new assistant conductor and back-up pianist.
Set up in the front room of founder member Betty Taylor’s home in Carol Crescent almost 30 years ago, the choir performs a varied repertoire of songs from shows, popular hits and well-known classics.
It began life as a ladies choir, but has been mixed for about 20 years and is looking for new male and female singers, especially younger vocalists.
The choir puts on charity concerts around the town all year round and rehearses weekly at the United Church Hall, Hagley Road.
Anyone interested in joining should call musical director Maureen Lea on 0121 550 2996 or secretary Pam Billingham on 0121 550 1535.
