STUDENTS and staff at Halesowen ’s Windsor High School are celebrating their first A level and BTec results today after the opening of the new £6.5 million sixth form block two years ago.

Almost every subject had a 100 per cent pass rate with an overall pass rate of 97 per cent.

Headteacher Keith Sorrell said: “Students are excited about moving on to their next stage in higher education or their chosen careers.”

Outstanding individual A level successes included Katie Danks who gained four A* grades and is going to Oxford to study materials science.

Jim Cole achieved two A's and an A* and is going to read aeronautical engineering at Bristol, while James Bayley gained four A grades and a B to study civil engineering (international study) at Birmingham University.

Mr Sorrell said the BTec results were also “exceptional” with Francesca Pinchin gaining a double distinction* in sport and media and Xenon Smith, a double distinction* in sport and business.

All 24 BTec business students gained a starred distinction, which Mr Sorrell described as a “truly exceptional performance.”
