RECORD GCSE results are being celebrated at Halesowen's  Earls High School, today - with 75 per cent of students gaining five or more A*-C GCSE passes, including English and maths.

Founded in 1652, The Earls is celebrating its 360th anniversary this year and chairman of governors Andy O’Connor said: "There could not be a better way to start the celebration."

English pass rates of 88 per cent and maths of 78 per cent  are the best ever in both subjects.

Among the students celebrating achieving nine or more A*/A grades are Zakir Gul, Demi Hughes, Luke Rose and Jennifer Wilkes.

Principal Tom Johnston said that he was "delighted to see so many students achieve the success that their hard work deserves."
