A FREE music festival is being held in Halesowen which will see bands from across the Midlands performing to raise cash for charity.

Wasselstock is being held at Old Halesonians RFC on Sunday, September 9 and organisers hope it will coincide with an Indian Summer.

Halesowen’s own singer-songwriter Andy Lloyd is making a rare appearance in the Midlands and Stourbridge’s Of Kings and Captains have been confirmed for the festival.

A crop of tribute bands including Dizzy Lizzy, Eric Clapped Out, Non Dr Feelgood, Elvish Presley and The Naked Beatles will also be performing throughout the day.

Event organiser, Chris Herbert, said: "It is a tremendous line up of bands and artists who are all playing free of charge,if we get the weather it will be a fantastic event, and a great way to end an amazing Olympic and Jubilee year.
“And also help raise money for a very good cause in Help for Heroes so bring a blanket and perhaps a picnic, but hopefully not an umbrella."

The concert will be hosted by former Birmingham poet laureate, peoples poet and comedian Giovanni ‘Spoz’ Esposito.

Robert Plant has been invited, but as yet has not replied as of yet but weather permitting, there is no time limit for the event, and so other artists may add to the bill.

There is a licensed bar at the venue. Admission is free, although there will be a minor charge for car parking and the fun starts at 1pm at Old Halesonians RFC, Wassell Grove.
