TWO Halesowen paralympians are preparing for sporting glory this weekend which could see two golden postboxes in the town.
Cyclist Helen Scott races on Friday and Sunday and wheelchair tennis star Jordanne Whiley starts her challenge for gold on Saturday.
Helen will be sporting Union Jack nails when she competes with visually impaired athlete Aileen McGlynn in Friday’s 1km time trial.
She said: “After the success of cycling at the Olympics everyone is expecting us to do well.
“We don’t feel the pressure. Of course there will be a few nerves on the day because it’s the biggest thing we will ever do.”
Wheelchair tennis star Jordanne Whiley starts her singles campaign on Saturday before she and Lucy Shuker begin the doubles on Monday.
She said: “Beijing was an amazing experience but this feels a bit more special, simply because it’s in my home country and I’m used to everything here.
“And this time around I’ll have all my friends and family there and the support of the home crowd. I can’t wait.”
