A KICKBOXER took time away from selling trainers at JBB Sports to inspire shoppers to take up the sport by giving a high kicking demonstration.

Aaron Walker, aged 19, has been kickboxing since the age of eight and hopes to encourage others to get involved in the sport, on a full-time basis.

Arron has been at Hickmans Kickboxing Academy since he started out and is hoping he can give something back, by teaching skills to under-10s and 12s who are keen to take up the sport.

The teenager is also preparating for next year’s British Championships. Arron said: “Kickboxing is a way of life for me.

"I train and coach twice a week and also manage to fit in a job at JJB in Oldbury to fund my passion for the sport.”

The teenager, who has worked at the Oldbury store for 18 months, and has the backing of staff as well as customers like Sandwell Council housing supremo Councillor Simon Hackett.

Stuart Spence, store manager at JJB Sports in Oldbury, said: “Arron is an asset to the team. Arron’s work with the local kickboxing community and his drive to create his own club serves to demonstrate this passion and commitment.”
