Violent female Oldbury thug jailed after vicious attack
10:34am Monday 3rd September 2012 in News
A VIOLENT 23-year-old woman from Oldbury has been jailed for four years after helping kicking a neighbour in the head repeatedly fracturing her jaw in two places.
There was a history of problems between the two families and when Colleen Phillips and Chloe Kennedy met the victim by chance in the street they carried out the brutal attack.
The victim was on her way to a fast food outlet in Oldbury and she was asked if it was her dog that had been barking all day and night before being pushed by Phillips.
Kennedy then stuck out a foot causing her to trip up and when she hit the floor both she and Phillips kicked out at her as she was helpless and unable to defend herself, said Judge Amjad Nawaz.
He said the woman had to have her jaw wired up, she spent two days in hospital being treated for her injuries and she continued to suffer from discomfort.
"She finds it difficult eating and swallowing and she is still in pain," the Judge told Phillips and Kennedy at Wolverhampton Crown Court.
The vulnerable woman, he went on, also suffers from psychological problems as a result of the vicious attack which was carried out in public.
"This sentence must send out the signal that violence in the street will not be tolerated no matter what the circumstances," said the Judge.
Phillips of Hartlebury Road, Oldbury and 18-year-old Kennedy of Pine Avenue, Smethwick both denied inflicting grievous bodily harm but they were convicted by a jury at the end of their trial.
The Judge said there was clearly a "background" between the two parties adding: "That is the factor that lead to this offence being committed."
And he issued a stern warning that while the jury had returned the "proper" verdict on the basis of the evidence there must be no repetition of the offending.
