Blackheath pub boost for Poppy Day

A PUB fun day raised almost £500 to fund Blackheath ’s Poppy Day Parade later this year.

The event, at the Robert Peel pub last month, was organised by the town’s Royal British Legion, giving the Remembrance Day event a £478 boost.

Branch chairman Mark Spilsbury thanked everyone at the pub for their hospitality and generosity which made the day a success.

“We would also like to thank the Blue Moon Cafe for their generous donations,” he added.

Meanwhile, there are still places available for the branch’s annual trip to the National Memorial Arboretum at Alrewas to coincide with the Northern Ireland Veterans Day on September 22.

Anyone interested should contact Mr Spilsbury on 07950 948013.
