Oldbury siege accused's court date postponed

AN Oldbury man accused of holding his elderly mother hostage at knifepoint in the family home was set to appear in court today.
Richard Hughes, aged 40, had been due to enter his plea to charges of false imprisonment at Wolverhampton Crown Court but the case was adjourned to next week.
Hughes lived in Perry Hill Road with his 78-year-old mother Dorothy Hughes where he allegedly detained her against her will for a period of 33 hours.
The hearing, next Thursday, will be conducted via a prison video link.
