THE work of a talented young Old Hill jewellery designer is set to go on sale in a top department store.
Lora Leedham, who owns a studio in Birmingham’s Jewellery Quarter, is celebrating after her collection of ethical and contemporary jewellery was chosen to feature in John Lewis outlets.
The 26-year-old, from Halesowen Road, who designs and makes rings, necklaces, bracelets, brooches, cufflinks and earrings and has featured in many top fashion magazines, said: “I am over the moon. I can’t believe they have chosen my collection.”
Lora, who set up her business six years ago following help from The Prince’s Trust, was asked to go to John Lewis’s headquarters in London last year to meet with buyers, who were impressed with her ‘British design, British manufacture’ brand.
Lora, who has also seen her work adorning the likes of The Duchess of Cornwall and The Prince of Wales, said: “I was asked to go down to London but was told the buying window was already closed. I was just delighted they had shown interest in me.
“But after the meeting they told me they had especially reopened the buying window again just for that one day so they could get my collection into the store.
“I couldn’t believe it.”
Four ranges from her collection will now go on sale in John Lewis in Solihull from the end of September.
Lora added: “I can’t wait to see it in the store.
“I’m so excited and my mum and I will definitely be planning a shopping trip to Solihull soon to see it.”
