Blackheath library to offer IT support and courses

BLACKHEATH’s new library is branching out to offer IT courses and support on how to use the internet to help find work.

An Online Learning and Employment Centre will be officially opened tomorrow at the High Street library by Sandwell Council ’s cabinet member for children and families Councillor Bob Badham.

It offers beginner IT courses, supports learners to use the internet and gain employment, IT qualifications, use e-mail and update CVs.

Cllr Badham said: “This just shows how diverse our libraries are now. A centre like this is vital in enabling people to get on in the modern world where IT and the internet pays such a major role."

A drop in session from 11am until 2pm will be held tomorrow when staff will provide information and advise on courses and training opportunities.

There will also be free refreshments and activities for children including Dudley Zoo’s animal roadshow, face painting and Chalky the Clown.
