Children's hospice appeal for collectors
12:00pm Friday 7th September 2012 in News
A STAFF member and volunteer at Acorns Children’s Hospice raised £270 with a bucket collection in Blackheath , and are appealing for others to hold their own collections to support the charity.
Community fundraising manager Hannah Nolan and volunteer Sarah Greatrex collected the cash at the town’s Sainsbury’s.
The Walsall hospice provides care for children with life-limiting conditions and is currently supporting hundreds of children across the Black Country.
It relies on fundraising and donations to cover the cost of care which amounts to £750 a day for each child and urgently needs more people to come forward to help with fundraising and bucket collections.
Ms Nolan said: “The generosity of the public has been heart-warming. Hopefully, more people interested in charity work will get in touch as we urgently need help to carry out fundraising.
“Bucket collections are a vital part of Acorns’ fundraising and we appreciate any time people can give to help, whether it’s a one-off or a couple of hours a week.
"It’s a great way to get chatting to people in the community and show support for a local cause.”
