Older residents urged to be full of life!

OLDER residents are being reminded there are plenty of reasons to be full of life in the Dudley Borough, with a host of activities aimed at keeping people fit and active.

During the first week in October there will be more than 30 events running as part of a special full of life festival to encourage people in later life to try something new.

The festival has been organised by Dudley Council and Age UK Dudley and will feature walks, cycle rides, Latin and ballroom dancing, jewellery making sessions, laughter yoga and aromatherapy sessions.

To highlight the forthcoming event, road shows are being held across the borough with representatives handing out brochures giving all the activity information.

The first road shows took place at Merry Hill today where the Mayor of Dudley, Councillor Melvyn Mottram was on hand to drum up support from shoppers.

The road show will also be stopping off in the Cornbow Centre in Halesowen on Wednesday, the Churchill Shopping Centre in Dudley on Friday, Ladies Walk in Sedgley on Monday (September 17) and finally in the Stourbridge Ryemarket on September 19.

Brochures will also be available in all borough libraries, leisure centres and Age UK Dudley at Merry Hill.

Councillor Steve Waltho , cabinet member for adult and community services, said:“Dudley Council is really pleased to once again support Full of Life. In previous years thousands of older people have taken part in the festival and we hope that many more will get involved this year and try something new.”
