Sandwell Mind enlists MPs backing in fight against funding cuts

SANDWELL Mind is fighting against more than £500,000 of local Government funding cuts to its mental health services.

The organisation which runs suported housing schemes and outreach services said the cuts will affect services offered to people with mental health problems across the borough.

Its service user group - known as People In Mind (PIM) met with West Bromwich MP Adrain Bailey who is backing its campaign to overturn the cuts this week.

Mr Bailey said: “I hadn’t fully appreciated the full range of services provided by Sandwell Mind and the enormous benefit they bring to people suffering with mental health problems and in addition the enormous amount of money its saves public services.

“I’m happy to do everything I can to promote Sandwell Mind as an organisation, the work they do and the people they support.”
